Abstract: During the past several decades, the economy of China has been booming fast. However, the fire situation in China has been serious and fire losses are increasing. At the same time, lots of achievements have been made in Chinese fire research. In this paper, the Chinese fire problems in recent years are briefly presented by inspection into the annual fire data. Much progress in fire research in China is reviewed. In addition, the emphases of the fire researches in the next years are suggested
